BACKGROCND<br />
Throughout his life, Siegel has bern interested in<br />
Production Management. Inasmuch as his family has<br />
lxen in the corset manufacturing industry, he has had<br />
many opportunities to observe the functions performed in<br />
tht' individual shops that distribute this mt'rchandise.<br />
He has always been impressed by manufacturing<br />
methods. He has seen the methods of manufacturing and<br />
distribution in his family's industry and consequently<br />
resolved to asct'rtain the ways and means of bringing<br />
together material, labor, and equipment so as to effect<br />
production and distribution with a minimum of delay<br />
and cost.<br />

consisted of visits to typically wrll-managed plants.<br />

analytical report of tht' parts, following vvhich tbe management<br />
and opnation practices arc discussed in group<br />

<strong>The</strong> transition from the academic lile tu the business<br />
world should be easy for Siegel. He is the adaptable and<br />
mature type of young business man. His sound judgment<br />
