Billings was born and brought up In and around
Boston. He attt'nded :\Tewton High School before going
to Huntington Preparatory School and then college.
While at the University of Maine, he studied Electrical
Engineering but decided after two Yf'ars that he was
more intf'restf'd in Business Administration than in
Engineering.

PRACTICAL TRAINING
the summer or 1940, Billings went to work with
the Raytheon Production Corporation, Newton, Ylassaci1usetls,
as a general office worker. This was good experience
since he had just finished his first yt'ar at Babson
Institute, and could apply some of the principles or business
managf'mcnt learned there.
Billings has also been interested in the chemical industry,
and while at Babson Institute, conducted a survey
of the Iwavy chemical industry uver the last tt'n years.
THE BCSINESS ~AN
An excellent conversationalist with a sense of humur,
he is clean-cut in appearance, a good mixer, and friendly.
Billings is conscientious about his work and very cooperative
in any project with which he is concerned. In conference
sessions, Billings has shown the ability to see
through the maze of irrelevant facts that somnimes
obscure the cause and solution of business problf'ms .
A young man with tc('hnical training, combinf'd \-vith
business administrative ability, Billings is the type now
sought in many distributive organizations.
