BACKGROCND
The field of Finance bas held an intt'rest for ykNeill
rrom the time he first began to plan seriously for the
[Outure. Soon after entering college, he found that the
courses offered by the Economics Dt>partment contained
the material that he desi red to know m ost abou t. Hence
m a ny inter('sting hours \,vere spent in lecture and indi­
\'idual research in such courses as Corporation Finance,
Public Finance, Social Control of Business and Elementary
and A.dvanc('eI ,\ccounting. H e has also made a
study of thl': British Income Tax System.
PRACTICAL TRAI~ I~C
On a Fellowship basis at Babson Institute, Mc;.Jeill
has been able to secure individual instruction and guidance
from the Faculty. He has madc a complete study of
the chemical industry with particular ('mphasis placf'd
on the financial statemf'nts of the leading companies in
this field. He has also conducted a personal survey of the
action of heavy industrial stocks as th('y reflect changes
brought about by the war. He made a study or tlw Securities
and Exchang(, Commission as affected by the
war and the present :\Tationa\ Defense program.
