Valve Bearings
All butterfly valves are fitted with sleeve-type bearings. Bearings are corrosion resistant and selflubricating.
Bearing material is Teflon-lined with a special fiberglass backing. Bearing load do not exceed
1⁄5 of the compressible strength of the bearing or shaft material.

Valve actuators conform to AWWA Standard C504 and are designed to hold the valve in any intermediate
position between full open and fully closed without creeping or fluttering. Actuators are equipped with
mechanical stop-limiting devices to prevent overtravel of the disc in the open and closed positions. The
buried service MDT actuator has a mechanical stop which will withstand and input torque of 450 ft. lbs at
extreme actuator position without damage.

Painting
Valve interior and exterior surfaces except for seating shall be coated with two coats of epoxy paint
Amercoat 370 in accordance with TT-C-494A and AWWA C504.
Testing
Hydrostatic and seat leakage tests will be conducted in strict accordance with AWWA Standard C504
