1.2 Parts and Accessories<br />
The main parts of the system are the cell unit and controller. The tower, on top of the<br />
iTC 200 cell unit, guides the motion of the pipette, which holds the titration syringe. The pipette<br />
has three positions; cleaning, loading, and run positions. A 1 mL plastic syringe is used for<br />
loading the titration syringe, and a glass 0.5 mL syringe (Hamilton) is used to fill and rinse the<br />
sample and reference cells. A cell cleaning apparatus, consisting of a small plastic barrel and<br />
soft tubing, is used to run liquid through the sample cell, in combination with a small vacuum<br />
flask. The vacuum is provided by a ThermoVac unit, which is also used for sample preparation.<br />
Several tools are used for changing a syringe or a pipette tip. Also, a thin piece of wire is<br />
provided for vigorous cleaning of the syringe tip.<br />
