Altbier [ 4.8% ABV ]
This German lagered ale finds its roots in the northern confines of the
country, particularly in the city of Düsseldorf. A richly copper colored
beer, with a good malt presence, and discernible hop character. The
word “alt” means “old” in German, referring to the method in which
the beer is made. Before the discovery and isolation of yeast strains,
German brewers uniquely fermented and cellared their beers at cold
temperatures. The finished product if affected with less fruity smells
and flavors, and a simple, crisp dry finish. The hops, Perle (pronounced
Pearl) and yeast used in this recipe are decisively German. Much like
a mixture of an ESB and Oktoberfest.
Northern Lights Ale [ 4.3% ABV ]
“Ale Brewed With Herbs”. The South Shore Brewery continues it’s
dedication to innovative and progressive beer styles. As a cream
ale it combines the features of a lager ( crisp and smooth) with the
best of an ale (fruity and complex) into one beer. We’ve also added
5 % oatmeal and 16% white wheat for a round, smooth flavor and
mouthfeel. There is a very slight hop presence. Additionally, we’ve
introduced a blend of herbs into the finished product which enlivens
your senses with a unique refreshing taste.
□ □ “Wet Hopped”Bitter Blonde [ 6.6% ABV ]
An uniquely hopped ale which could be regarded as a very pale ESB.
This beer features fresh hand picked ( by us no less) Wisconsin grown
Cascade hops. Hence the term “wet hops”. The more traditional
forms are dried. True to it’s goal of being the ultimate judge of the
ingredients that become South Shore beers, the hops were hand
picked by brewery personnel and brewed with within 48 hours of
picking. The South Shore Brewery takes yet another step towards
it’s goal of exclusive use of regional and locally grown ingredients.
Married with a beer that was formulated from a majority of locally
grown barley, this beer is truly a window into the future. Conditioned
and served via nitrogen a silky, sexy and luscious beer is the only
way to describe how it looks and tastesyour senses with a unique
refreshing taste.
