5.1.5.4 Factors which affect the conductivity include the following:<br />

(a) Temperature.<br />

Increasing the temperature increases the amplitude of vibration of the atoms,<br />

which in turn increases the impedance to the electron flow. For accurate<br />

readings, the reference standards and the test part should be at the same<br />

temperature. For greatest accuracy, measurement should be carried out at<br />

approximately 20°C, since this is the temperature the reference standards are<br />

certified for, and the effect of temperature on the test part and the reference<br />

standards may differ.<br />
