Some conductivity meters have one or more, higher alternative test
frequencies, and if so, a higher frequency may be selected to avoid excessive
penetration. However, they should be operated at the lowest frequency
possible for the test part thickness in order to avoid any contamination of the
test surface having a significant effect. The second ‘higher’ frequency is
commonly used to determine cladding thickness. If the test part thickness is
less than the effective depth of penetration, parts may be tested by
determining a correction, or for sheet material, by stacking.
