(b) Spot probes Spot probes are probes with a relatively large flat face for testing flat surfaces for flaws or material properties (conductivity or thickness) (see FIG. 5.5b). The coil diameter may be small or large - the size of the probe does not necessarily give a good indication of the coil size.
