(b) Conductivity<br />

If it is desired to measure conductivity or to compare the conductivity of bars<br />

with the conductivities of bars of known conductivity, the operating point should<br />

be in the vicinity of the knee of the curve. (For example, to verify the uniformity<br />

of heat treatment of aluminium alloy bars, or to sort mixed batches of bar<br />

material). That is, the operating point should be similar to that required for<br />

conductivity measurement using surface probes. This means that f/fg should be<br />

in close to 6, but any value in the range approximately 4 to 20 could be used.<br />
