The fill factor When testing with encircling coils, the magnetic coupling is<br />

measured as the fill factor (η), can also be expressed as a % and cannot exceed<br />

1 (or 100%). For maximum sensitivity, the fill factor should be as high as<br />

possible compatible with easy movement of the bar or tube through the coil. The<br />

clearance required to allow free movement depends on the diameter of the bar<br />

or tube, but is commonly 2-3 mm on the diameter.<br />
