Appendix II GLOSSARY OF TERMS FOR EDDY CURRENT TESTING Absolute measurements made with a direct reference in contrast to differential measurements. Absolute probe A probe having a single sensing coil. Absolute signal The value of the amplitude of a signal without consideration of its relative phase, frequency, or wave form. Alternating current AC amperes. A current flow changing in amplitude and direction with time. Anomaly An unexpected, unclassified eddy current signal. A false defect indication.
