6.5. Records and reports<br />

6.5.1 Test records<br />

The general principle governing recording of results of any testing is that<br />

sufficient detail should be recorded that the test could be repeated in exactly the<br />

same way as the original test, as far as this is possible. Much of the required<br />

information may be recorded by reference in the test record to the written<br />

procedure or other document, such as a company document controlling some<br />

aspect of non-destructive testing. Essentially, the test record consists of<br />

information covering what was tested, how, when, where, and by whom it was<br />

tested, and the results. This should include at least the following:<br />

(a) Name of the testing authority.<br />

(b) Identification of the component(s) tested.<br />

(c) Number of the product standard, if applicable.<br />

(d) Identification of the written procedure, standard, or other document to which<br />

the testing was performed.<br />
