6.5. Records and reports
6.5.1 Test records
The general principle governing recording of results of any testing is that
sufficient detail should be recorded that the test could be repeated in exactly the
same way as the original test, as far as this is possible. Much of the required
information may be recorded by reference in the test record to the written
procedure or other document, such as a company document controlling some
aspect of non-destructive testing. Essentially, the test record consists of
information covering what was tested, how, when, where, and by whom it was
tested, and the results. This should include at least the following:
(a) Name of the testing authority.
(b) Identification of the component(s) tested.
(c) Number of the product standard, if applicable.
(d) Identification of the written procedure, standard, or other document to which
the testing was performed.
