7.6.2. REMOVING THE REAR WHEEL<br />
WARNING<br />
Wait until the engine and the exhaust silencer<br />
have completely cooled down. While disassembling/<br />
reassembling the wheel, be careful<br />
not to damage the brake pipe, the disc and the<br />
pads.<br />
• Remove the exhaust system, see 6.1.1 (REMOVING<br />
THE EXHAUST SYSTEM).<br />
• On the rear brake, unscrew and remove the wheel nut<br />
(1).<br />
NOTE Upon reassembly, change the wheel nut (special<br />
type) with a new one.<br />
• Unscrew and remove the two screws (2) of the brake<br />
caliper (3).<br />
• Unscrew and remove the shock absorber lower fastening<br />
screw (6) and move the shock absorber, thus<br />
releasing it from the lower coupling.<br />
• Unscrew and remove screw (4) from muffler mount (5).<br />
• Remove muffler mount (5).<br />
• Remove the brake caliper (3), by carefully withdrawing<br />
it from the brake disc.<br />
• Withdraw muffler mount (5).<br />
WARNING<br />
Inside the muffler mount (5) there are two bearings.<br />
In case the bearings are excessively worn,<br />
change the whole mount.<br />
• Withdraw the spacer ring and the wheel.<br />
After reassembly follow the instrcutions below:<br />
• Position the vehicle on the central stand<br />
• Make the rear wheel rotate at low speed<br />
• Check that the muffler mount (5) is not oscillating<br />
transversely.<br />
Should the problem arise:<br />
• Unloose the wheel nut (1)<br />
• Change the wheel position<br />
• Tighten the wheel nut (1)<br />
