PERIODIC MAINTENANCE<br />
ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE<br />
• Place the motorcycle on firm and level ground.<br />
• Place the motorcycle on the centre stand.<br />
WARNING<br />
Allow the engine and exhaust system to cool<br />
down before proceeding.<br />
• Stop the engine and allow it to cool, before draining the<br />
oil in the crankcase, so that the oil itself is also cool.<br />
• Unscrew and remove the cap/dipstick (1).<br />
• Place a container under the engine oil filter.<br />
• Loosen and remove engine oil filter (2).<br />
WARNING<br />
Used oil contains substances that are harmful<br />
to the environment, even small quantities must<br />
be disposed of in compliance with the regulations<br />
in force.<br />
• Unscrew and remove the oil drain cap (3) and allow all<br />
the engine oil to drain out.<br />
• Fit a new oil filter (2). Take care to lubricate filter O-<br />
rings.<br />
• Refit and tighten the drain plug (3).<br />
• Refill through the engine oil filler hole with 1500 cc<br />
(91.5 cu in) of oil.<br />
• Refit and tighten the cap/dipstick (1).<br />
• Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes.<br />
Switch off and allow to cool.<br />
• Check the engine oil level.<br />
