2.4. AIR CLEANERS<br />

2.4.1. AIR CLEANER<br />

Clean the air cleaner every 6,000 km (3,728 mi) or 12<br />

months, or more frequently if the vehicle is used on dusty or<br />

wet roads.<br />

• It is possible to clean the air cleaner partially after using<br />

the vehicle on this kind of roads.<br />

LEANING<br />

• Remove the air cleaner, see 4.2.1 (REMOVING THE<br />

AIR CLEANER).<br />

• Wash the filter element with clean, non-flammable or<br />

high flashpoint solvent, and dry it carefully.<br />

• Apply a film of filter oil or dense oil (SAE 80W – 90),<br />

then wring out excess oil.<br />

CAUTION<br />

When cleaning the filtering element, make sure<br />

that there are no tears.<br />

Otherwise, change the filtering element.<br />

IMPORTANT The filtering element must be well impregnated<br />

but not dripping with oil.<br />

• Clean the exterior of the air cleaner with a clean cloth.<br />

• Clean the interior of the cleaner housing with a clean<br />

cloth.<br />

• Clean the intake ducts.<br />
