Main Operation by Using the Buttons in the Remote mode<br />

Basic Structure<br />

[SHIFT]<br />

When operating the knob with holding this button, the value will be changed slowly.<br />

OCTAVE [-]/[+]<br />

Allows the pitch of the keyboard to be shifted down or up in octave steps.<br />

TRANSPOSE [-]/[+]<br />

Determines the amount in semitones by which the range of the keyboard is shifted up or down.<br />

Slider Function<br />

Shows the Slider Function on the display.<br />

Slider 1 – 4<br />

Controls the assigned parameter.<br />

Knob Function (Upper/Lower) Shows the Knob Function (Upper/Lower) on the display.<br />

Function<br />

Works as transport for the DAW software.<br />

[UTILITY]<br />

Shows the Remote display in the Utility mode.<br />

[EXIT]<br />

Goes back to the default display from the Remote display.<br />

[STORE]<br />

Stores the edited Control Template.<br />

[DEC]/[INC]<br />

Sends Program Change messages.<br />

Data Dial<br />

Changes the location of transport.<br />

BANK SELECT [DEC]/[INC] Changes Control Templates.<br />

[MUTE]/[SOLO]<br />

Mutes or solos the selected track in Cubase.<br />

[A] – [H] Works as Function Keys 1 – 8<br />

NOTE: The Data Dial and [A] – [H] buttons are not available when using Digital Performer.<br />

Other Functions<br />

Velocity Meter<br />

When the Velocity Meter is set to on in the Remote display of the Utility mode, the [COMMON], [PART SELECT] 1 – 4,<br />

[PART ON/OFF], [ARP ON/OFF], [PART ARP], and [ARP HOLD] lamps will flash as a Velocity Meter according to the<br />

velocity of the keyboard performance.<br />

HID Device Function<br />

The following keys will work as a USB HID device, in the same way as a <strong>com</strong>puter keyboard.<br />

Learning Function<br />

When the mouse cursor position is at a parameter on the VST instrument in Cubase series Version 4.5 or later, operating<br />

the Knob/Slider with holding the Knob Function/Slider Function button can assign the required parameter to the Knob/<br />

Slider. Press the [STORE] button to save the setting to the current Control Template.<br />

About MIDI Ports<br />

The <strong>S90</strong> <strong>XS</strong>/<strong>S70</strong> <strong>XS</strong> uses two MIDI ports to control DAW software. Each port handles the following messages:<br />

Port 1<br />

• MIDI messages of keyboard, Pitch Bend, and Modulation Wheel.<br />

• Control Change messages via the Knobs when the Knob Out Select is set to “CC” in the Control Template.<br />

• Program Change message when the PC Change Mode is set to “PC” or “PC + Remote” in the Remote display of the Utility mode.<br />

Port 2<br />

• Messages only for Remote Control via operation of the panel of the instrument.<br />

• Remote messages via the Knobs when the Knob Out Select is set to “Remote” in the Control Template.<br />

• Program Change message when the PC Change Mode is set to “Remote” or “PC + Remote” in the Remote display of the Utility mode.<br />

• Communication with Cubase series software.<br />
