Promethean Charter <strong>School</strong> offers an innovative choice to students in<br />

grades 9-12. Enrolled students become part of a learning community<br />

immersed in a high performance, technology enriched environment,<br />

distinctive for it’s individualized learning plans, rigorous Project-Based<br />

curriculum, assessment techniques, shared school governance, and<br />

dynamic community-enhanced learning opportunities. A constructivist<br />

instruction model is used wherein the teacher/mentor will facilitate<br />

students’ progress on their individual education plan. The instructional<br />

format will emphasize student use of a variety of modern communication<br />

resources and devices. The goal of Promethean is to enable enrolled<br />

students to gain enhanced knowledge of the world, to improve their<br />

understanding of self and others aiming toward sound career foundations,<br />

and give them a real working knowledge and skill in the use of modern<br />

learning tools and resources. Through participation graduates will be<br />

gainfully employed, productive confident members of society who are<br />

prepared to make positive contributions to their families, their<br />

JEDI (Jefferson Eastern Dane Interactive) Network is a consortium of<br />

nine school districts in Dane and Jefferson counties that works<br />

cooperatively to provide high-quality distance learning opportunities for<br />

students. Jedi Virtual High <strong>School</strong> harnesses the power of anytime,<br />

anyplace delivery of classes for students using emerging technologies.<br />

There are three key components that differentiate JEDI Virtual High<br />

<strong>School</strong> from existing Wisconsin virtual schools:<br />

1. Each student meets with a certified counselor to develop a personal<br />

education plan.<br />

2. Each student is assigned a learning coach to guide the student on a<br />

daily basis. The coach is under the direction of a certified JEDI<br />

teacher and lives in close proximity to the student in order to<br />

maintain personal contact.<br />

3. Asynchronous virtual courses are created and taught by master<br />

teachers from within the JEDI network consortium.<br />
