The Dimensions of Learning Academy is a standards-based school of<br />
choice focusing on lifelong learning, serving students in grades KG-8 in<br />
Kenosha Unified <strong>School</strong> District No. 1. Two unique programs,<br />
Dimensions Extensions and Dimensions Connections, further define the<br />
school’s organizational and management structures. The Dimensions<br />
Extensions program consists of extended before and after-school<br />
programming for the Dimensions of Learning Academy.<br />
Dimensions Connections organizes the parental involvement for the<br />
entire school program. The parental involvement for this school is<br />
organized as an integral part of the school’s design. The goal is<br />
implementation of a curriculum based on integration of reasoning skills<br />
coupled with the targeting of student acquisition of academic as well as<br />
lifelong learning standards.<br />

Est. 2007 55. Harborside Academy<br />
Harborside Academy is a 9-11 grade Expeditionary Learning charter high<br />
school located in Kenosha Wisconsin. Harborside’s school design<br />
combines rigorous academic content and real world projects, students<br />
participate in “learning expeditions” which involve in-depth study of<br />
engaging topics coupled with active teaching, fieldwork, and community<br />
service.<br />
The school design focuses on teaching in an engaging way. Harborside<br />
has a rigorous curriculum and promotes high levels of student<br />
engagement through real-world learning focused on issues of concern to<br />
young people. The curriculum will have a strong fieldwork component.<br />
Students have the experience of authentic service to the community as an<br />
ethic that permeates the school community and as an important element<br />
of their academic work. Students also learn that values such as<br />
collaboration, perseverance, and craftsmanship are essential to the<br />
production of high quality work. Staff emphasize post secondary<br />
preparation, professional quality student work, and engaging students<br />
through active pedagogy.<br />

The Kenosha e<strong>School</strong> is a full-service online virtual high school<br />
operating in conjunction with the Appleton e<strong>School</strong> and the Wisconsin<br />
e<strong>School</strong> Network. The Kenosha e<strong>School</strong> exists to meet students’ needs<br />
by employing new and emerging technologies and providing access to a<br />
high-quality, standards-driven, common-assessments curriculum in an<br />
environment that is self-paced and accommodating to students’ varying<br />
physical locations, individualized plans, and time frames. The Kenosha<br />
e<strong>School</strong> offers a full spectrum of courses, allowing students to achieve<br />
all graduation requirements.<br />
57. Kenosha <strong>School</strong> of Technology Enhanced<br />
Curriculum (KTEC)<br />
The study of technology is a major thrust of the Kenosha <strong>School</strong> of<br />
Technology Enhanced Curriculum (KTEC). The skills and knowledge of<br />
reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, fitness, health, culture,<br />
music, art, teamwork, integrity, civics, and many more will be couched in<br />
a technology framework. KTEC students will be competent readers of<br />
technical literature. They will also be competent writers of technical<br />
documents. Mathematical concepts will be taught with solid examples of<br />
applications to advance technology and engineering.<br />
