203. Pathways<br />
The goal of the Winter Pathways Charter <strong>School</strong> is to enable enrolled<br />
students to gain enhanced knowledge of the world around them, to<br />
improve their understanding of self and others, and give them a real<br />
working knowledge of modern and future learning tools and resources.<br />
All students will participate in parent-teacher-student conferences and<br />
online assessment to identify a tentative post secondary goal and develop<br />
a personal learning plan to reach that goal. Students will maintain an<br />
e-portfolio of completed work, assessments, and personal learning plans.<br />
Students will engage in meaningful, educational, online relationships<br />
with mentors and teachers in distant locations.<br />
Parents are involved in developing their child’s personal learning plan<br />
and in reviewing progress with their child through the school year.<br />
Community members sit on the Governance Board and provide hands-on<br />
opportunities through internships and job shadowing.<br />

204. Central Cities Health Institute<br />

The Central Cities Health Institute (CCHI) serves students grades 11-12<br />
in South Wood County school districts, including Wisconsin Rapids<br />
Public and Private <strong>School</strong>s, Nekoosa Public <strong>School</strong>s, and Port Edwards<br />
Public <strong>School</strong>s. The institute is designed to increase the career exploration<br />
and exposure in all health careers. The high demand to fill jobs<br />
in the health care industry in South Wood County and across the nation,<br />
and the increased rate of students interested in health careers verified the<br />
need to create this charter school. Students are engaged in classes to<br />
prepare them for entry-level work experiences as well as post secondary<br />
education. Students have the opportunity to gain first aid and CPR<br />
certification and nursing assistant certification in the charter. The<br />
curriculum includes hands-on, work-based education to increase<br />
students’ critical thinking, academic, and employability skills. A major<br />
goal of CCHI is to assist the health care industry in recruitment and<br />
retention of committed, mission oriented health care employees.<br />

205. Mead Elementary <strong>School</strong><br />
Mead Elementary <strong>School</strong> is a conversion charter school, designated as a<br />
Differentiated Service Learning Community. The unique school design<br />
will address the social and academic needs of 464 students in grade K4-6.<br />
The design is built upon four pillars of success, determined to provide<br />
Mead students with essential learning for their future.<br />
The Four Pillars of Success model incorporates researched best<br />
practices to assure success for every child as follows:<br />
1) Differentiation – Learning is differentiated by content, product, and<br />
process for increased success for students. Access to high-level<br />
technology, differentiated literacy and math resources, and<br />
