126. Wisconsin Virtual Learning<br />
The Wisconsin Virtual Learning (WVL) is a virtual charter school of the<br />
Northern Ozaukee <strong>School</strong> District in Fredonia, offering students<br />
throughout Wisconsin equal access to an individualized, rigorous, and<br />
self-paced instructional program delivered both on the Internet and via<br />
traditional instructional materials. The Wisconsin Virtual Learning<br />
serves students in grades KG-12 from more than 150 school districts in<br />
Wisconsin.<br />
The Wisconsin Virtual Learning school combines a comprehensive,<br />
standards-based, research- and performance-based curriculum (K 12® ),<br />
high expectations, technology, a significant amount of off-line work,<br />
strong instructional support, and substantial involvement from parents or<br />
other primary adults. The K 12® curriculum includes six core subjects<br />
(language arts/English, mathematics, science, history, art, and music) and<br />
is aligned with the Wisconsin Model Academic Content Standards. The<br />
education program also addresses social and character development. Built<br />
into the curriculum is an internal assessment system that provides<br />
frequent accountability as students work to master the curriculum at their<br />
own pace.<br />

127. Connects Learning Center<br />
Connects Learning Center (CLC) is a charter school program for at-risk,<br />
ninth- to twelfth-grade students from the school districts of South<br />
Milwaukee, Oak Creek, and Cudahy. The CLC mission is to equip each<br />
student with the skills and strategies essential to future success in college,<br />
technical school, and employment through a diverse, individualized<br />
curriculum that engages students. The school’s policies and expectations<br />
instill responsibility. The curriculum emphasizes writing, research, and<br />
speaking activities. Curriculum and tests are developed in collaboration<br />
with the high schools and are aligned with state standards. All students<br />
enrolled in CLC are required to satisfy the graduation requirements of<br />
their respective districts and to participate in state proficiency tests.<br />
Public service and work experience are also included in the curriculum.<br />

128. Early Learning Center<br />
Early Learning Academy provides education to students entering<br />
kindergarten with skills considerably below the level of most of their<br />
peers. Early Learning Academy provides curriculum to students to<br />
develop basic math and reading skills. Through a variety of exploratory<br />
play-based experiences building strong literacy, language and math skills,<br />
and other school-readiness skills, the focus of the curriculum supplies<br />
students with language and literacy skills that are essential to future<br />
success in school. Each student’s social and personal skills are enhanced<br />
in a nurturing school environment.<br />
