Grade Levels: 09-12<br />
This charter school, through strong collaboration with experts in the<br />
engineering profession and linkage to industry and higher educational<br />
institutions, provides high school students in grades 9-12 with a solid<br />
foundation in technical knowledge and skills that is vital for success in<br />
this field.<br />
These ambitious goals will become a reality through the focused and<br />
rigorous curricular program of study which includes:<br />
Specialized courses at each grade level covering topics in all fields<br />
of study in engineering.<br />
Courses in language arts, science, math and technology education<br />
which have a specific engineering focus and may count for college<br />
credit (such as transcript coursework and/or Advanced Placement<br />
courses) that will form the core academic requirements for academy<br />
students.<br />
Curriculum delivery that will utilize the latest advances in<br />
technology when possible such as computer software, robotics, and<br />
student-response systems.<br />
Community partner mentors who will provide students with<br />
opportunities for educational experiences both inside and outside of<br />
the school. These may include tutoring, career advising, and<br />
knowledge application experiences.<br />
Career counseling and job placement assistance through the<br />
Academy guidance counselor.<br />
Access through community partnerships to study and work in stateof-the-art<br />
engineering and technology laboratory facilities.<br />
A focused, personalized exploration of suitability for employment in<br />

engineering and technical fields.<br />
Required participation in mentoring and internship experiences with<br />
area business and industry partners<br />

195. Enrich, Excel, Achieve Academy (EEA)<br />
Enrich, Excel, Achieve Learning Academy (EEA) is an instrumentality<br />
school serving at-risk students in grades 9-12. EEA Learning Academy's<br />
mission is to guide students to EXCEL academically, ENRICH their lives<br />
through positive relationships and lead them to ACHIEVE lifelong<br />
success. EEA provides an educational environment in which students<br />
succeed and grow academically and behaviorally.<br />
The school provides technology based curriculum and direct instruction<br />
from teachers for individualized learning. The curriculum includes<br />
content based courses and teacher designed classes in finance, health,<br />
physical education, service learning and career planning.<br />

196. New Horizons Charter <strong>School</strong><br />
The New Horizons Charter <strong>School</strong> for At-Risk Teens is a charter school<br />
serves at-risk students in grades 6-8.<br />
One of the primary goals of the charter school is to reengage students<br />
who have become disenchanted with the traditional school setting.<br />
Emphasis is on behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement.<br />
The New Horizons Charter <strong>School</strong> for At-Risk Teens runs from 9 a.m.<br />
to 4 p.m., taking the students off the street during the afternoon hours that<br />
80
