2. THE COMMUNITY STRATEGIC PLAN
Local Action Plans and Regional Strategies
Under the State Plan delivery framework, local action plans are being prepared for each region of
NSW to respond to local priorities that were raised during community consultations.
These plans are driven locally by Regional Managers Networks that bring together senior officers
from across State Government agencies at a regional level.
Local action plans and regional strategies are good sources for identifying issues that may be
relevant to each council’s community. They also provide an idea of the projects and priorities that
the NSW Government will be working on in Council’s region over the coming years. There may be
opportunities for Council to connect with, and benefit from, these programs.
Information on the NSW State Plan and the preparation of local action plans can be found at
Examining these plans will provide an overview of some of the issues and priorities identified for
Council’s region and the possible impacts they may have on the community. Due regard must be
given to these when preparing the Community Strategic Plan, particularly where the plans have
mandatory targets, such as the Sydney Metropolitan Strategy’s growth targets.
Council’s existing plans
Councils already have a wide range of plans that will help identify key community issues. These
include:
social and community plans
State of the Environment reports
