In the Operations Record Book for North Weald the following entry was made on 4 September<br />
1942: ’… The Norwegians were in high spirits, pending the visit of their King and Crown<br />
Prince who, accompanied by the Crown Princess and other high officials, are arriving tomorrow to<br />
present the NORWEGIAN WAR CROSS to MAJORS MAEHRE, MOHR and<br />
BIRKSTEAD’. This picture was taken after the award ceremony where His Majesty King<br />
Haakon VII of Norway had presented Majors Mehre, <strong>Mohr</strong> and Birksted with the Norwegian<br />
