The last day of operations was 21 April 1945. The two squadrons were<br />
then withdrawn from 2 ATAF, and leaving all equipment behind was<br />
transferred to 11 Group Fighter Command in preparation for possible<br />
deployment in Norway. On 4 may the Germans capitulated, but the<br />
situation as regards Norway remained uncertain until 7 May. By then<br />
the servicing of the Wing was on the move towards the UK where it<br />
was re-equipped. 36 Spitfires crossed to Norway from Dyce on 22 May;<br />
the ground personnel with their equipment followed by sea.<br />
