Transportation of bulk
substrates goes easily
in ZSSK CARGO
Metals, coal and iron ore make up more than 60 % in total
performance in tons
Within the process chain of metallurgical industry, production
of electric energy of coal and processing of metals anywhere in
the world, railway has an irreplaceable position. It is just that
element that provides transportation of huge quantities of raw
material from the location of their extraction to the location of their
processing to semi-finished products or energy. Therefore, rail freight
transport cannot be missing during the planning process of these
transportations.
ZSSK CARGO has its own teams of experts who provide coordination
of transportations from the operational viewpoint – to have the means
of transportations available, as well as from the commercial viewpoint
- to have the business conditions in the transport market stipulated.
Annual statistical data document of ZSSK CARGO states that within
the last 5 years, metals, coal and iron ore have made up 60,9% on
average in total performance of transported tons.
Commodity No. 5 – Metals
The biggest share of all transportations carried out by ZSSK CARGO
belongs to transportations of materials for metallurgical enterprises in
the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries
and transportations of their production. Goods comprise mostly iron
bars, wires and coils. ZSSK CARGO carries goods not only for small
and medium-size enterprises dealing with transport and engineering
building operations, but our company also succeeds to meet the
transport needs of large-size enterprises. Each year, ZSSK CARGO
carries approximately 6 million tons of such products.
When performing these transportations, our company is a part
of competitive environment. Our competition is not only truck
transportation, but also other rail carriers. It is necessary to
thoroughly consider all circumstances and relations to suppliers,
customers, agreed parity. Typical goods of this commodity are:
Manganese ore, other ores exclusive of iron ore, pig iron, ferro-alloys,
semi-finished iron goods, steel, products from alloy or steel, ferrous
scrap iron and steel and other scrap.
A significant share of transportations for metallurgical companies is
made up of transportations of iron scrap. In this area, our company
has been observing a slight increase each year. It requires services
provided to a number of smaller suppliers, work with wagons, where
recently the wagons of Eanos series with larger loading volume have
been preferably requested. It can be seen in these transportations,
how the price of iron scrap influences the movement of goods flows. If
the price in foreign markets goes up, the export goes up, if the price of
iron scrap goes down, the import to metallurgical companies goes up.
ZSSK CARGO offers following wagon series suitable for transportation
of wide range of goods within the commodity “metals”:
Es, Eas, Eaos, Eanos,
Kns,
Res,
Rils, Rilhs, Rilns,
Shimmns,
Tams, Tams-u.
Commodity No. 7 – Coal
Commodity of coal is also a very significant part of ZSSK CARGO
commodity classification. Import and domestic transportation cover
requirements of Slovak energy and metallurgical industries. Our
