wagons by means of small mechanization. This workplace also
includes re-pumping complexes which are used for re-pumping of
acetone, various types of gasoline, benzol, ethyl alcohol, glycerine,
methanol, diesel oil, kerosene, gas oil, xylene, turpentine, butyl
alcohol, mineral oil, oil, alcohol and other types of liquid substances.
At present, the reconstruction of the N 6/8 complex is in progress.
The Thawing Plant plays an important role in transhipment of iron
ore in the winter period. This plant gives opportunity to thaw noninflammable
bulk substrates in thawing tunnels, which enables their
unloading from the broad gauge wagons or their transhipment to
normal gauge wagons or onto the piles.
Bogie change and transhipment workplace in Maťovce provides
transhipment of bulk substrates from broad gauge rail freight wagons
to normal gauge rail freight wagons and vice versa by means of
hydraulic crawler excavators and it also provides bogie change of
broad gauge rail freight wagons to normal gauge and that by means of
replacement of bogies with 1520 mm gauge to 1435 mm gauge and
vice versa.
ZSSK CARGO is planning extensive investments into the ESTY Section
in the following few years. These will include purchase of hydraulic
excavators, electrical-hydraulic grips, and back-up sources of bridge
cranes on the I. ore platform as well as modernization of technological
equipment.

The most important workplaces of the Eastern Slovak Transhipment
Yard (ESTY) include the Ore Transhipment Workplace and Heavy
Mechanization Workplace, which are used for transhipment of bulk
iron ore substrates, i.e. pellets, briquettes, iron ore concentrates,
aglo-ores and other types of ore, as well as pig iron, ferroalloy, coal,
short round wood and other substrates.
These workplaces also provide transhipment, unloading and loading
of wood, paletted or loosely loaded timber, steel plates, steel coils,
bars, shaped iron, all sorts of machines, passenger and goods
automobiles, tracks, boxes, iron scrap, marble, charcoal, coke,
anthracite, ferro-metals, other bulk substrates and large-capacity
containers.
Transhipment is performed by means of hydraulic crawler excavators
and by means of portal and gantry cranes and that from open broad
gauge wagons to open normal gauge wagons (including wagons with
opening roof) or vice versa; or from broad gauge wagons to the piles,
to the road motor vehicle or to the bonded warehouse as well as from
the piles to the normal gauge wagon, or to the road motor vehicle.
The biggest volume of ESTY performances is made up of transhipment
of iron ore, which reached a share of 73% of its total performance in
2007; other commodities had a 27% share together.
Another important workplace of the ESTY Section is Transhipment and
Re-Pumping Workplace. This workplace is used for transfer of various
types of packaged and unpackaged substrates, grains, chemical and
mineral fertilizers, salts and other bulk substrates. Transhipment
