Maťovce<br />

Centre of freight transport Maťovce and a border crossing station<br />

has a unique character, since it provides transition of consignments<br />

from 1 520 mm gauge (broad gauge track - BGT) to 1 435 mm<br />

gauge (normal gauge track - NGT) and related changes in two<br />

transportation regimes as well as coordination of consignment<br />

transition on broad-gauge track to Haniska pri Košiciach.<br />

Loading and unloading are, within the centre district, provided in<br />

occupied tariff points Maťovce (transhipment of goods: broad gauge<br />

– normal gauge is provided by <strong>ZSSK</strong> <strong>CARGO</strong> East Slovak Transhipment<br />

Yards Section and other subjects), Veľké Kapušany, Vojany (normal<br />

and broad gauge), Bánovce nad Ondavou and in unoccupied stops<br />

Drahňov, Budkovce, Hatalov. Within the transportation, chemical<br />

products, coal and iron ore prevail.<br />

Services related to transition of consignments from 1520 gauge<br />

to 1435 mm gauge are provided by employees of operations and<br />

Sekcii Východoslovenské prekladiská patrí v Maťovciach okrem prekládkových<br />

kapacít aj pracovisko preväzovne vozňov. Preväzujú sa v nej<br />

len širokorozchodné nákladné vozne, pod ktoré sa osadzujú podvozky<br />

normálneho rozchodu. Po previazaní podvozkov majú ukrajinské vozne<br />

vstupujúce na Slovensko už po normálnom rozchode prekročenú<br />

nakladaciu mieru. Z toho vyplývajú určité dopravné obmedzenia.<br />

ESTY Section, in Maťovce, includes apart from the transhipment<br />

workplace, also bogie change workplace. Only the broad-gauge freight<br />

wagons are changed here. Broad-gauge bogies of these wagons are<br />

replaced with normal-gauge bogies. After bogie change, the Ukrainian<br />

wagons, entering Slovakia, have exceeded loading norm on the normal<br />

gauge. This may result in certain traffic restrictions.<br />

Jediná širokorozchodná železničná trať na Slovensku vedie z Maťoviec<br />

do Hanisky pri Košiciach. Je dlhá 100 kilometrov a jej výstavbu si vyžiadal<br />

dovoz železnej rudy pre novopostavené Východoslovenské železiarne<br />

v Košiciach. Skúšobná prevádzka na novej širokorozchodnej trati sa<br />

začala 1. mája 1966. Neskôr sa jej priepustnosť zvýšila dobudovaním<br />

ďalších výhybní, elektrifikácia trate bola ukončená v roku 1978. Trať sa<br />

využíva len pre nákladnú dopravu.<br />

The only broad-gauge track in Slovakia runs from Maťovce to Haniska<br />

pri Košiciach. It is 100 km long and its construction was executed<br />

mainly due to iron ore import for newly-built factory Východoslovenské<br />

železiarne in Košice. Trial operation on new broad-gauge track<br />

commenced on May 1, 1966. Later on, its permeability increased<br />

by completion of additional passing-bays, track electrification was<br />

completed in 1978. This track is used for freight transport only.<br />
