<strong>The</strong> Grupotel Macarella Suites is a typical Spanish retreat.<br />
Think Moorish-arched windows and wrought-iron balconies<br />
curling from terracotta walls. But on closer inspection you’ll see<br />
this hotel combines its Menorcan side with plenty of<br />
contemporary style. <strong>The</strong> lobby, for instance, features authentic<br />
tiled floors and galleried landings with Gothic-style chandeliers<br />
and grand staircases. But the décor is as a modern as they come<br />
with chic wicker sofas and stylish furnishings.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re’s more of the same in the suites. Spacious, bright and airy,<br />
with soft cream walls and tiled floors, they certainly remind you<br />
you’re in Spain.<br />
<strong>The</strong> pool area is just as much of a sanctuary. <strong>The</strong> freestyle pool<br />
is set into a spacious sun terrace and is bordered by parasols<br />
and sunbeds. <strong>The</strong>re’s also a poolside bar serving cocktails<br />
and snacks. For more in the way of chill out time, head to the<br />
brand new spa. Not only does it boast pampering treatments, a<br />
sauna and a Jacuzzi-style tub, there’s also an inviting pool area<br />
with an aqua circuit. Factor in a gym, a buffet restaurant and the<br />
fact the hotel is just a short walk from the beach and you’ve got a<br />
holiday haven you won’t want to leave.<br />
