Locations don’t get much better than this. With nothing but a<br />
pool terrace and a narrow strip of garden to separate it from<br />
the beach, Athena Royal impresses from the start. <strong>The</strong> beach is<br />
a golden strip of sand and shingle, which runs the full length of<br />
the hotel, so all the outdoor spaces come with sea views.<br />
Taking centre-stage on the beachfront are three large pools.<br />
<strong>The</strong>y’re set into huge terraces dotted with wooden sunbeds.<br />
And as the hotel is strictly adults-only territory the atmosphere<br />
is as tranquil as it gets. Away from the beach, you’ll find a spa<br />
offering body wraps and massages, and activities that range<br />
from tennis and lawn bowls to minigolf and a golf academy. Plus<br />
you can hire a bike and set out for an exploration of Paphos.<br />
Indoors, meanwhile, the bedrooms have been decorated in<br />
warm peach and blue hues and feature big beds and comfy<br />
chairs. Extras like mini-fridges, TVs and radios all come as<br />
standard. As for food, with three eateries, as well as the Olive<br />
Grill Bar for snacks, there’s no shortage of choice. You’ve got<br />
everything from the Oasis Restaurant for buffet breakfasts and<br />
light lunches, to the Aphrodite à la carte where white linen and<br />
candlelight create the perfect mood for dinners à deux.<br />
