Welcomes New Staff
Following our move to Dallas, the staff
of Leadership Network has expanded
with the addition of several new people,
including a new executive director.
Effective September 1,
Mark Sweeney joined
our staff as Executive
Director and Chief
Operating Officer. He
comes to Leadership
Network following a 25
year career in Christian
publishing, having Mark Sweeney
served as the Publications Manager of
Moody Magazine and Moody Press and
also Publisher of Victor Books. For the
past two years, he was the Chief
Operating Officer of a ministry-oriented
marketing group based in Dallas.

lifelong love for and commitment to the
local church and I am especially pleased
to now have the opportunity to learn from
some of the most outstanding church
leaders and others who
are at the forefront of
this emerging new
church. I am energized
by the tremendous
challenge that is ours.”
says Sweeney.
As of August 1, Doug
Pagitt is leading the
Doug Pagitt
Young Leaders Network. Formerly the
Youth Minister at Wooddale Church in
Eden Prairie, MN, Pagitt is building a
national network of
young leaders (people
born after 1960) and
leading our Generation
X initiative. Also joining
the staff as a secretary in
the Young Leader area is
Mollie Smallen.
Colleen Hager Effective October 1,
Colleen Hager, joined our Information
Center staff as a Communications
Specialist. Formerly the Director of
Communications for the Greater Dallas
Community of Churches, her responsibilities
will include the future production of
NEXT and chronicling the story of the
emerging 21st century church.
In the Local Church Leader’s Center,
Carolyn Cochran joined us to serve as
Executive Assistant to Brad Smith.
Later this fall, look for a special edition of
NEXT that will describe Leadership
Network’s clarified mission, new operating
structure, all our resources and initiatives
and full staff contacts.

In an effort to provide new tools
and resources for 21st century
church leaders, Leadership Network
has entered into a co-publishing
agreement with Jossey-Bass, Inc.,
a San Francisco-based leading
publisher of professional books in
the fields of management and non
profit leadership.

As part of the new Jossey-Bass
Religion-in-Practice series, Leadership
Network Imprint Books will focus on
issues and practices related to the
emerging 21st century church. The
first two books in the series will be
released in 1998. Written by leading
practitioners, they deal with the
issues of leading a church staff
ministry team in the 21st century and
the character and heart of the 21st
century leader.
