It was supposed to be available on 31 January, is it available now? Response: A draft was prepared, and is currently under review. It is expected to be available around the end of February. David Hopper Cam Robertson David Hopper Response: We relied on previous studies as part of developing the baseline conditions, using the previous studies to identify resources and issues. More detailed work was undertaken when the alignment was defined. All technical studies will form part of the EA report and be available for public review. Question: Mentioned previously that at the next design stage you hope to bring depth of stations up. Can you provide more information on this? Response: We need to know more about rock conditions along the route of the tunnel. Hopefully this information will allow us to raise station caverns up, possibly a 3-5 m vertical shift. That will be done as part of preliminary engineering. David Hopper Cam Robertson David Hopper Question: Does the Public Open House cover the whole project or just the EA? John Brennan Question: Is 3-5 m much of a gain? John Brennan Response: There will be an overview of the project but the main focus is on the Environmental Assessment. David Hopper Response: Should be enough to be noticeable. It equates to 1-1.5 stories David Hopper Question: We have seen the conceptual designs, I am wondering if when we get into detailed design will changes be possible? Response: The EA allows for some minor changes to be made, such as the shifting of entrances, and minor changes to alignment, but major changes will require an amendment to the EA. Question: But if changes are just strictly in terms of design it won’t need to be re-visited? Response: No, because it is just a functional design right now. There is an expectation that the City will go back to the public as the design progresses to gain input on specifics of the design, public art, amenities, etc. John Brennan David Hopper John Brennan David Hopper Comment: There would be potentially significant cost savings to excavation, escalators, etc. Comment: The City is developing design guidelines for stations and will be going to public in June for discussion. Comment: City should keep in mind comfort as well as aesthetics when developing these guidelines. Response: These are all important elements to consider. Question: How many LRVs will be stored at the M&S Facility? Response: Facility is designed to hold 120 LRVs, but only need 65 for DOTT project. Response: Most work at Bayview is above grade, but there will be a need to excavate in order to do structural foundation work for the station. More investigation will be needed as part of the detailed design to see if there is contamination present and how much. Any contaminated material has to be handled according to provincial standards. Question: How much material from other older studies is relevant for this EA? Dickson Davidson David Hopper Dickson Davidson Question: When will tunnel construction start? Response: Hard to determine at this point but likely 2013 based on lead time needed for design work and approvals. It is a complex project with many different stages and components to the work. Opening day is likely 2018- 2019. Question: Will track laying be done after tunnel is complete? Response: It will depend, there will be a need to stagger work along the line to use resources effectively. Question: Are you thinking of keeping buses running on Transitway as long as possible during construction? John Brennan David Hopper John Brennan David Hopper John Brennan

Contractor may prefer to shut everything down at once to complete construction faster. Question: The EA process typically has a public advisory committee to review work, will this be set-up or is it part of the PCG role? Response: The PCG serves that purpose for this study and has reviewed work to-date. EA report will be provided for independent review, and if necessary another meeting of the PCG would be called to address any major issues. 3. Closure As this is likely the last meeting of the PCG, members were thanked for their participation in the study. The meeting notes and presentation will be posted on the ftp site as soon as possible. The meeting ended at 7:45 p.m. Please report on errors or omissions to Paul Croft at p.croft@delcan.com by March 3, 2010.
