Ms Judy Smith - what affects the common will affect the stromatolites. The President thanked the public for their comments in regards to the issue of the Stromatolites and the Hamelin Pool Common and advised that their input was appreciated. As there were no further questions the President closed public question time at 9.24am.
ORDINARY COUNCIL MINUTES – 15 DECEMBER 2010 5 5.0 APPLICATIONS FOR LEAVE 5.1 APPLICATION FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE – COUNCILLOR RIDGLEY CO511 Author Chief Executive Officer Disclosure of Any Interest Declaration of Interest: Nature of Interest: Moved Seconded Cr Hargreaves Cr McLaughlin Council Resolution Councillor Ridgley be granted leave of absence in accordance with Section 2.25 of the Local Government Act 1995 for the Ordinary meeting of Council schedule to be held on 19 January 2011 7/0 CARRIED Background Councillor Ridgley has applied for leave of absence from the ordinary meeting of Council scheduled for 19 January 2011. The Council in accordance with Section 2.25 of the Local Government Act 1995 as amended may by resolution grant leave of absence to a member. Comment Councillor Ridgley has advised the chief executive officer due to personal commitments he will be unable to attend the Ordinary meeting of council scheduled to be held on 19 January 2011 and has requested leave of absence be granted by council for this meeting. The council may consider not granting councillor ridgley leave of absence but must include the reasons for the refusal for not granting the leave in eth recommendation. Legal Implications Local Government Act 1995 Section 2.25 Disqualification for Failure to Attend Meetings (1) A council may, by resolution grant leave of absence to a member. (2) Leave is not to be granted to a member in respect of more than 6 consecutive ordinary meetings of the council without the approval of the minister. (3) The granting of leave, or refusal to grant leave and reasons for that refusal, is to be recorded in the minutes for eth meeting. (4) A member who is absent, without first obtaining leave of the council, throughout 3 consecutive ordinary meetings of the council is disqualified from continuing his or her membership of the council. (5) The non-attendance of a member at the time and place appointed for an ordinary meeting of the council does not constitute absence from an ordinary meeting of the council – (a) If no meeting of the council at which a quorum is present is actually held on that day; or (b) If the non attendance occurs while –
