Pre túto komunitu EOD COE zorganizovalo
v roku 2010 po prvýkrát podujatie
„NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials“, ktoré
sa s podporou Divízie budúcich bezpečnostných
hrozieb NATO a pod odbornou gesciou
Ministerstva obrany SR a národného riaditeľa
pre vyzbrojovanie opätovne uskutoční 18.
až 20. septembra 2012 na výstavisku EXPO
v Trenčíne. Jeho súčasťou bude aj zasadnutie
Rady NATO – Rusko na tému „Úloha EOD
v prostredí po roku 2014“.
Cieľom podujatia je poskytnúť spoločnú
platformu spoločnostiam, výskumným a vývojovým
inštitúciám a orgánom NATO, aby
prezentovali svoje potreby a najnovšie technologické
riešenia pri zdokonaľovaní EOD spôsobilostí.
V programe podujatia je konferencia,
dva semináre, dynamické a statické ukážky
najnovších robotov, prístrojov, metód a postupov
pri detekcii munície a výbušnín. Účasť
už potvrdili popredné osobnosti, spoločnosti
a firmy, ktoré predstavujú technický a technologický
pokrok v oblasti EOD.

The main role of the Centre
of Excellence EOD (EOD
COE) is to promote NATO’s
transformation and operational efforts;
to provide specialist expertise and support
to the benefit of developing tactics,
methods and procedures in disposal of
explosives; to constantly monitor technological
developments; and to improve
relations, interoperability and practical cooperation
with partners, NATO’s command
elements, NATO member states, and international
organizations in the field of EOD
by providing the latest information and
developing capabilities, with the aim of
preparing technologically advanced, interoperable
and well trained EOD experts for
the entire spectrum of NATO operations.
But to achieve this, the first condition was
to build the national EOD capabilities of
the Slovak Armed Forces in the field.
The Centre was festively activated on 2
October 2007 in Nováky. It fulfilled tasks in
the international domain (EOD education
and training and information exchange) and
in the national domain (testing and controlling
quality of stored ammunition and explosives).
On 1 January 2010, EOD COE was
divided into two components: the National
EOD Centre in Nováky and the International
EOD COE in Trenčín.
In May 2010, the Chiefs of the General Staff
from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France,
Hungary and Romania signed a memorandum
of understanding in Brussels. Poland
became a contributing country. In January
2011, the ACT assessment team confirmed
that the Centre had fulfilled all the accreditation
criteria. Subsequently, the North
Atlantic Council confirmed the status of the
COE EOD in Trenčín as a NATO institution by
certifying the Centre as the first international
military organization in the Slovak Republic.
The Centre was officially inaugurated on 17
May 2011.
Since its inception, the EOD COE actively contributed
to the fulfilment of NATO’s action
plan in the field of C-IED and NATO's Defence
Against Terrorism Programme of Work (DAT
PoW) Members of the Centre are actively
involved in the activities of NATO working
groups, act as guarantors for processing
EOD terminology, they submit proposals
and review Allied publications in the area of
EOD. In May 2011, EOD COE conducted an
initial training of staff officers in the Czech
Republic, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Finland, France, Hungary and Slovakia. In
November 2011, the Centre provided, in
cooperation with France, training for EOD
officers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, dispatching
a mobile training group. This year
the Centre is scheduled to conduct: Initial
EOD Staff Officer Training (IEODSOT); Former
Warsaw Pact Ammunition Course (FWPAC)
EOD
Home-made Explosive Devices (HMEC);
Ammunition Risk EOD Management Course
(AREMC) in line with NATO norms; EOD/IEDD
Seminar.
EOD COE unifies NATO efforts in the field
of explosives disposal and builds a community
with common interests with NATO
HQs and institutions and individual countries,
as well as international governmental
organizations, manufacturing, research
and educational institutions. For this community,
in 2010 the EOD COE for the first
time organized “NATO EOD Demonstrations
and Trials”. The event, supported by the
NATO Future Security Threats Division, the
Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic
and the National Armaments Minister, will
be organized again on 18 and 20 September
2012 at EXPO in Trenčín. As part of this, the
NATO-Russia Council will gather to discuss
the ‘Role of EOD in the Environment after
2014’.
The goal of the event is to provide a common
platform to companies, research and
development institutions and NATO organs,
so that they can present their needs and the
latest technological solutions in an effort to
improve EOD capabilities. The programme
will feature a conference, two seminars,
dynamic and static demonstrations of new
robots, instruments, methods and procedures
for detection of ammunition and explosives.
The participation was confirmed
by subject-matter experts, companies and
firms furthering technical and technological
advances in EOD.
