Vladimíra Kováča – 26 profesionálnych
vojakov (24 mužov a 2 ženy) vystrelilo vo
VTSÚ Záhorie celkovo 30 riadených rakiet.
Hlavnú časť zoskupenia tvorili príslušníci
2. protilietadlovej batérie Igla a doplnili ich
niekoľkí príslušníci 1. protilietadlovej batérie
Igla, ktorí sa nemohli zúčastniť na streľbách
svojej jednotky na jar 2011. Jedna
streľba bola hodnotená ako dobrá, štyri
streľby ako veľmi dobré a všetky ostatné
streľby boli ocenené známkou vynikajúca.
Všetky riadené rakety pracovali v zhode
s technickými predpismi a konečné hodnotenie
raketových strelieb Sky Guard 2011
je vynikajúce.

The last live fire exercise
involving missiles was conducted
by selected personnel
of the air defence units under the
SVK Air Force on 8 November 2011. The
exercise, dubbed Sky Guard 2011, was the
culmination of a two-week sustainment
exercise undertaken by personnel from
the 2nd Igla Fire Battery. It was held at
the Záhorie Military Technical Institute,
although the main part of the exercise
unfolded at the Kolíňanský Vrch training
area, with theoretical training and professional
preparation of artillerymen and security
officers.
For economic reasons, personnel from the
Igla Firing Battery operated the outdated
9K32M Strela-2M systems (NATO reporting
name: SA-7 GRAIL) during the exercise.
This was a money-saving measure,
because the unit’s main weapon system
– the 9K38 Igla (NATO reporting name:
Grouse) system – was not actually employed.
This also saved financial resources
in another area: the obsolete systems are
used for training and, therefore, needn’t
be delaborated.
During what was the culmination of the
sustainment exercise 26 professional soldiers
(24 servicemen and 2 women), led by
the Nitra Air Defence Brigade Commander
Col. Vladimír Kováč, carried out live firing
of a total of 30 missiles at the VTSÚ
Záhorie firing range. The core of the unit
formation was built around members of
the 2nd Igla Air Defence Battery, supplemented
by members of the 1st Igla Air
Defence Battery, who had not been able
to participate in the live fire exercise of
their battery in the spring of 2011. One
missile firing was rated as “good”, four as
“very good” and the rest as “excellent”. All
the missiles operated in accordance with
the technical procedures and the overall
rating of Exercise Sky Guard 2011 was
excellent.
