a do detailov spracovanými ukážkami bojov
z obdobia 2. svetovej vojny. Na týchto ukážkach
sa zúčastní veľký počet vojakov (členov
klubov vojenskej histórie), pozemnej techniky
i lietadiel a všetko sa bude odohrávať
za použitia pyrotechnických efektov. Počas
prestávok bude možné obdivovať dobové
tábory rôznych armád (nemeckej, sovietskej,
československej, americkej, britskej), sledovať
ukážky Kriminalistického a expertízneho
ústavu Policajného zboru SR i predvádzanie
novodobej vojenskej techniky patriacej VTSÚ.
Celý program sa bude odohrávať v unikátnom
priestore VTSÚ Záhorie, jedinečnom
v strednej Európe, ktorý svojím charakterom
pripomína púšť.
Tento priestor už od minulosti využíva armáda
na testovanie a výskum vojenskej techniky.
Počas 2. svetovej vojny túto lokalitu
využíval aj nemecký Wehrmacht na výcvik
vojakov a skúšky svojej techniky pred nasadením
v Afrike. A práve pre túto výnimočnosť
dostala akcia pomenovanie SAHARA.
Podujatie je určené pre majiteľov, nadšencov
a fanúšikov vojenských veteránov, ktorí
si môžu svoju techniku vyskúšať v extrémnych
podmienkach. Účastníci SAHARY medzi
sebou súťažia vo viacerých kategóriách,
do ktorých je ich technika rozdelená, a na
záver sú odmenení cenami. Na akcii sa zúčastňuje
technika zo všetkých kútov sveta
a zastúpené sú rôzne druhy techniky – od
kolesovej, pásovej a špeciálnej z čias 2. svetovej
vojny cez vozidlá z 50. – 60. rokov až
po súčasné vojenské vozidlá. Podujatie je
takisto určené pre kluby vojenskej histórie,
ktoré prezentujú svoju činnosť v spomínaných
dobových táboroch a v ukážkach
bojov z obdobia 2. svetovej vojny. Snahou
všetkých zúčastnených je naplniť dnes už
taktiež tradičné motto podujatia – Ako to
naozaj bolo...
Nad podujatím prevzal záštitu prezident
Slovenskej Republiky Ivan Gašparovič a uskutočňuje
sa s oficiálnou podporou Generálneho
štábu OS SR.

Yes, it is true. The Slovak
Military History Vehicle Club
(SMHVC) will host the 10th series
of a traditional show known as SAHARA.
This interesting event associated with the
gathering of military history vehicles has
been successfully organized uninterruptedly
since 2002 by the SMHVC in cooperation
with other history clubs from Slovakia and
abroad. Marking the anniversary of the Slovak
National Uprising, the show will be held on
24-26 August 2012. SAHARA will be the biggest
and most important get-together of military
history vehicles and military history clubs
this year in Slovakia.
To wide audiences, it will give the chance to
enjoy over 100 specialized military vehicles of
different types and makes and from different
periods of history, and to be carried away by
captivating and detailed WWII enactments. A
large number of soldiers (members of military
history clubs), vehicles and aircraft will partake
in the event with special pyrotechnical
effects.
During the breaks the attendees may pay a visit
to different military camps (German, Soviet,
Czechoslovak, American, British) and view the
demonstrations of the Crime Investigation and
HOBBY
Expertise Institute (SVK Police Corps) and new
military equipment from the VTSÚ. The whole
programme will take place in the specialized
VTSÚ Záhorie facility, which is unique in the
whole of Central Europe insofar as it is reminiscent
of a desert environment. The facility
has been used by the Armed Forces for doing
testing and research on military equipment.
During the Second World War the locality was
used by the German Wehrmacht for the purposes
of training soldiers and testing military
equipment before their deployment to Africa.
And, for this reason, the show is simply called
SAHARA.
The event targets old military vehicle owners
and fans who have a good opportunity
to put their vehicles to the test in extreme
conditions. Participants of the SAHARA show
will compete in several categories and will be
awarded by prizes. The event will attract vehicles
of all types – wheeled, tracked and specialized
– from all over the world, dated from
the Second World War, through the vehicles
dating from the 1950s and 60s, to the current
military vehicles.
The show will promote the role of military history
clubs. These will present their activities
in the above-mentioned historical camps and
through military enactments from the Second
World War. It is the aim of all participants to
live up to the event’s traditional motto – ‘How
things really happened...’ The event will take
place under the auspices of Slovak President
Ivan Gašparovič and will be officially sponsored
by the General Staff of the SVK Armed
Forces.
