This concludes the basic <strong>IBM</strong> HTTP Server configuration for SSL. The result can<br />

be tested by loading a Web browser and entering the URL:<br />

https:// ; where is the host name of the server.<br />

A message may appear from the browser explaining that the Web browser is<br />

attempting to establish a secure link with the server, as in Figure 10-35 (using<br />

Microsoft Internet Explorer).<br />

During the initilization of the secure connection, the <strong>IBM</strong> HTTP Server will<br />

provide a certificate to the Web browser. If this certificate has not been signed by<br />

any of the CAs known to the Web browser, then a message may appear<br />

providing details of the certificate and asking whether the certficate should be<br />

trusted.<br />

To see the details of the certificate provided by the server, click the View<br />

Certificate button. In the details, you will find information about the certificate<br />

itself, who issued the certificate and to whom; also, you can follow the certificate<br />

path of the issuers.<br />
