(PRN 12, 381) and a little medieval pottery from the bottdm of an<br />
undisturbed pit (PRN 14 883) was recovered. The secrions'showed<br />
that there had been,grOss post-medieval disturbence of the top metreof<br />
soil. One section was obscured bY-a modern sewer pipe trench -<br />
Labour. was provided by the Abingdon Area Archaeolcigical and' Historical<br />
Society.<br />

the moated manor in the deserted medieval Villige of GopcoUrt'<br />
provided en:opportunity to.examine one of the ploughed out medieval<br />
hoUsenOldt<strong>for</strong>ms.(PRN 11, 874 and r11,'995; Grid Ref., SP 7070 0095).<br />

the top soil the sections proVided by*.the foundation<br />
and service trendhee only cânfirmed.the 'earthwork. as a:building -<br />
platfOrm.constructed on the slOping hill side. Remnante of 'a chalk-'<br />
founded flOor'ddivered part of this plat<strong>for</strong>m but lumps of coal and ked<br />
brick gave this floor a post-medieval date.<br />

(PRN 11, 204; Centred .SP 573 227). Remnants of a dry-stone-wall:by<br />
which six 4th century coins were found suggesting aA.nst piree caMe<br />
from a sewer-trench 100 d-south-west of the Previous finds (CBA.9<br />
Newsletter No. 9, 123-5). There was no further domestic debris or<br />
other ground disturbance recognisedin ground works further joUth-wesi<br />
which indicates that the south-western limit of .the Romano-<strong>British</strong><br />
settlement bas been reached.'<br />
