signs, kiosks and other public information.<br />

Regulation Signs: Signs that communicate laws and<br />

regulations to the public, such as traffic signs, disabled<br />

parking signs, “no parking” signs and signs for other<br />

areas that restrict public access/circulation.<br />

Public Amenities: Special amenities/environmental<br />

art that enhance the aesthetics and celebrate the unique<br />

character <strong>of</strong> the <strong>ARTIC</strong> <strong>Mixed</strong>-<strong>Use</strong> <strong>District</strong>. Public<br />

amenities could include public art, banners, project<br />

medallions in the pavement, etc., located in pedestrianheavy<br />

areas. Environmental graphic color palettes<br />

should be bold, vibrant and energetic to reflect the<br />

urban, distinctive character <strong>of</strong> the development.<br />

General signage provisions for the <strong>ARTIC</strong> <strong>Mixed</strong>-<strong>Use</strong><br />

<strong>District</strong> include the following:<br />

Signage for individual development should have its own<br />

identity while responding to the overall character <strong>of</strong> the<br />

district.<br />

Wayfinding shall be designed in a clear and consistent<br />

way that eliminates visual clutter and confusion, and<br />

facilitates movement and traffic flow.<br />

Signage and wayfinding design should be innovative<br />

and imaginative, and contribute to a positive street<br />

appearance.<br />

Sign size and quantity must be compatible with the scale<br />

<strong>of</strong> the development.<br />

Wall signs shall be compatible in sign size and quantity<br />

with the dimensions <strong>of</strong> the wall on which the sign is to<br />

be installed.<br />

Signs should be designed so that they are integrated<br />

with the building design.<br />

Colors <strong>of</strong> the signs should contribute to legibility and<br />

design integrity.<br />

Signs should be constructed <strong>of</strong> high quality materials<br />

that are compatible with the design <strong>of</strong> the facade on<br />

which they are placed.<br />

Directional signs should efficiently direct people to destinations Signs should be creative and<br />
