second buttonhole from the top of the coat. Placement may be adjusted to the<br />
individual as necessary to ensure proper appearance and comfort. On <strong>uniform</strong>s<br />
which have the complete "<strong>US</strong>MC"/emblem decal affixed the service tape will be<br />
worn with the bottom of the tape 1/2 inch above the emblem and the nametape<br />
will be worn in a corresponding position on the right side.<br />
6. Marines who experience name changes will replace nametapes with tapes<br />
bearing their new names as soon as possible. The wear of tapes with minor<br />
deviations, such as the use of some lower case letters in certain names, is<br />
authorized as long as the tapes are serviceable. Marines are responsible for<br />
ensuring that replacement tapes meet guidelines.<br />
3034. TRO<strong>US</strong>ERS (MALES)<br />
1. General<br />
a. Service and dress trousers will be full cut, straight hanging, zipper<br />
fly front, and without cuffs. Trouser legs will provide easy fit and will be<br />
long enough to break slightly over the shoe in front and to reach the<br />
juncture of the welt of the shoe in the rear. A variation of 1/4 inch<br />
above/below the welt is acceptable. Hems will be from 2 inches to 3 inches<br />
wide.<br />
b. Trousers will be pressed to present a smooth vertical crease at about<br />
the center front and rear of each leg. The crease will extend from the<br />
bottom of the hem to about 2 inches above the trouser crotch.<br />
c. Enlisted service and dress trousers are standard as issued/sold<br />
through the DoD Supply System. Optional high-waisted blue dress trousers<br />
with approval identification labels, as sold through Marine Corps exchanges<br />
or commercial sources, are authorized for optional purchase and wear by staff<br />
NCOs with the evening dress <strong>uniform</strong>. Officers' service trousers, of any<br />
authorized material, may be worn by SNCOs.<br />
2. Officers' Blue and Evening Dress Trousers<br />
a. Blue dress trousers for colonels and below are sky blue with a 1-1/2<br />
inch wide scarlet stripe down the outer seam of each leg. Blue dress<br />
trousers for general officers are dark blue with a 2-inch wide scarlet stripe<br />
down the outer seam of each leg.<br />
b. Field and company grade officers are authorized to wear blue dress<br />
<strong>uniform</strong>s with coats and trousers of different fabrics.<br />

c. Evening dress trousers are made of dark blue broadcloth and will have<br />
a long waist, high in back, fitting snugly and without wrinkles, without hip<br />
or side pockets, buckle straps or belt loops; suspender buttons will be<br />
inside the waistband. An ornamented gold lace stripe of tarnish resistant<br />
gold thread or gold-plated braid is sewn down the outer seam of each leg.<br />
3035. UMBRELLAS. Female Marines may carry an all-black, plain standard or<br />
collapsible umbrella at their option during inclement weather with the<br />
service and dress <strong>uniform</strong>s. It will be carried in the left hand so that the<br />
