addition, they are authorized to issue female swimsuits to female water<br />

survival instructors.<br />

7014. SAM BROWNE BELT<br />

1. The Sam Browne Belt may be worn by officers when the sword is prescribed,<br />

or at such times as are deemed appropriate by the local commander. The Sam<br />

Browne Belt may be worn with the blue dress "A"/"B," blue-white dress<br />

"A"/"B," and service "A" <strong>uniform</strong>s. It will not be worn with the AWC.<br />

2. The belt is worn over the service or dress coats around the natural<br />

waist, shoulder strap over the right shoulder, and tightened with the buckle<br />

centered in front. The frog/carrier is attached to the belt at a point over<br />

the highest portion of the hipbone, generally along the seam of the left side<br />

of the coat.<br />

7015. SERVICE BELT<br />

1. The leather service belt is the standard sword belt for officers and may<br />

be issued to SNCOs and NCOs for ceremonies, parades, honor guards, and<br />

reviews when the sword is prescribed, and upon other occasions when an<br />

individual is actually or symbolically "under arms." The service belt may be<br />

worn with all <strong>uniform</strong>s.<br />

>Ch 3 a. The service belt may be work with the AWC according to subparagraph<br />

3001.4.<br />

b. The belt is worn over the <strong>uniform</strong> belt, or at the waist covering the<br />

waistband, or at the natural waist of the women’s coat, and is tightened with<br />

the buckle centered in front. The frog or carrier is attached to the belt at<br />

a point over the highest portion of the hipbone, generally along the seam of<br />

the left trouser/slack leg or side of the coat or skirt. When women wear the<br />

belt without a coat, the shirt will be tucked in.<br />

2. Synthetic leather service belts in semi gloss or high gloss finish are<br />

approved for optional purchase and wear. These belts are not available in<br />

the DoD Supply System, but may be purchased through the Marine Corps<br />

Exchanges and approved commercial sources.<br />

7016. SHORE PARTY DESIGNATION<br />

1. Landing support battalion Marines are authorized to wear red patches on<br />

the utility <strong>uniform</strong>. The patch will be made of red material which is<br />

available through the Marine Corps Supply System, sewn on with red thread,<br />

and will be of a temporary nature so that it may be removed without adverse<br />

affect to the <strong>uniform</strong>.<br />

2. Patches will be worn as follows:<br />

a. A 1-inch by 3-inch red patch will be worn on the outboard side of each<br />

utility trouser leg. It will be centered on the seam, positioned 2-1/2<br />

inches below the large side pockets with the three-inch edge parallel to the<br />

bottom side of the pocket.<br />
