outlets will not normally be issued approval numbers unless they fabricate a<br />
<strong>uniform</strong> item on their own.<br />
3. The term "cloth of adopted standard" refers to the standard sealed<br />
samples of fabrics in the custody of the CG, MARCORSYSCOM (PM, ICE). All<br />
fabric used in standard issue and optional <strong>uniform</strong> clothing must be approved<br />
by the CMC. DSCP manages the supply support of all issue fabrics. Optional<br />
fabric samples submitted to CG, MARCORSYSCOM (PM, ICE) MARCORYSCOM (ICE) by<br />
textile mills and/or distributors must be certified by an independent textile<br />
testing agency.<br />
4. The CG, MARCORSYSCOM (PM, ICE) has been delegated the responsibility for<br />
the preparation and maintenance of detailed specifications and drawings for<br />
all articles of <strong>uniform</strong>, insignia, and accessories prescribed for wear by<br />
Marines. Standard samples of <strong>uniform</strong>s, fabrics, insignia, and accessories,<br />
as approved by the CMC, will be held by the CG, MCLB Albany. Articles<br />
procured, manufactured, or issued will conform in every respect to the<br />
standard samples, and no change will be permitted without CMC approval.<br />
5. Marine Corps Exchanges and individuals authorized to purchase <strong>uniform</strong>s<br />
from sources other than the DoD Supply System may procure materials and<br />
findings upon direct application to the CG, MARCORSYSCOM (PM, ICE). Patterns<br />
and specifications may be obtained without cost upon request.<br />
6. Sale of Marine Corps <strong>uniform</strong> materials for the manufacture of <strong>uniform</strong>s<br />
for enlisted personnel is not authorized, except when enlisted personnel are<br />
authorized to wear officer-type <strong>uniform</strong>s and then therefore are also<br />
authorized to procure officer <strong>uniform</strong> materials, findings, patterns, and<br />
specifications.<br />
1008. ALTERATIONS<br />
1. Alterations to <strong>uniform</strong> clothing to improve fit are authorized; however,<br />
such alterations will not change the intended appearance or function of the<br />
garment as designed. Wearing improperly altered <strong>uniform</strong> clothing is<br />
prohibited.<br />
2. Alterations to <strong>uniform</strong> clothing of enlisted personnel will be made at<br />
Government expense when authorized by organization supply officers according<br />
to instructions in the current edition of TM-10120-15/1, Technical Manual for<br />
Uniform Fitting and Alteration.<br />
3. Care should be taken when contracting alteration services from a<br />
commercial vendor so that unauthorized or unneeded alteration procedures are<br />
not included in the contract. Uniforms are designed so as to minimize<br />
alteration costs. Alteration contracts can be reviewed periodically by<br />
contacting the CG, MARCORSYSCOM (PM, ICE). Reports of an excessive number of<br />
fitting sessions are an indication that there may be problems with the<br />
alteration process.<br />
4. Commanders will ensure that all alterations, either at Government expense<br />
or at the individual's expense, conform to the spirit and intent of these<br />
<strong>regulations</strong>. Every effort will be made to ensure that proper tailoring<br />
facilities are available to all personnel of the command. Personnel will be<br />
