3037 MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />
hand salute can be properly rendered. Umbrellas may not be used/carried in<br />
formation nor will they be carried with the utility <strong>uniform</strong>.<br />
3036. UNDERGARMENTS<br />
1. Undershirts<br />
a. Standard undershirts will be made of cotton with quarter length<br />
sleeves and have an elliptical (crew-neck) collar. White V-neck undershirts<br />
are optional.<br />
b. The white crew-neck or the V-neck undershirt is authorized with male<br />
service and dress <strong>uniform</strong>s at the individual's option. Whether an undershirt<br />
is worn is at the individual's option except that the crew-neck undershirt<br />
will be worn when required by the commander at such times when <strong>uniform</strong>ity is<br />
considered essential such as at formations, ceremonies, or parades.<br />
>Ch 3 c. The issue utility <strong>uniform</strong> undershirt is a plain cotton olive<br />
green, short-sleeve, crew-neck shirt. Marines may wear optional plain, olive<br />
green long- or short-sleeve undershirts of any material, as long as the<br />
shirts meet the command's minimum safety standards and have a Marine Corps<br />
approval identification number. Optional shirts (long- or short-sleeve) will<br />
meet the minimum requirement, however, commanders may dictate the wear of<br />
only short-sleeve shirts when <strong>uniform</strong>ity is required. Wearing the undershirt<br />
with the utility <strong>uniform</strong> is at the individual's option, except that the<br />
undershirt will be worn when the utility coat is removed. An undershirt may<br />
be required by the commander at such times when <strong>uniform</strong>ity is considered<br />
essential such as at formations, ceremonies, or parades.<br />
2. Drawers (Males). The standard drawers (boxer or jockey style) are made<br />
of plain white cotton. White drawers (same style/design as the standard<br />
drawers), as sold through commercial sources, may be purchased, worn, and<br />
used to satisfy minimum requirements.<br />
3. Undergarments (Females). Females will wear adequate undergarments,<br />
(e.g., slip, bra, camisole, girdle, etc.) to ensure the proper fit,<br />
appearance, and opaqueness of the <strong>uniform</strong>. Undergarments will be worn so<br />
that they are not conspicuously visible. The white v-neck undershirt is<br />
authorized for wear with service and dress <strong>uniform</strong>s at the individual’s<br />
option.<br />
3037. CAMOUFLAGE UTILITY UNIFORM<br />
1. Woodland style camouflage pattern and poplin style camouflage utilities<br />
are authorized for wear at the individual's option. No items of woodland and<br />
poplin <strong>uniform</strong>s will be mixed with the exception of the utility cap per<br />
subparagraph 3037.7.<br />
2. The camouflage utility <strong>uniform</strong> is designed for field wear and should be<br />
loose fitting and comfortable. Items should be fitted loosely enough to<br />
allow for some shrinkage without rendering the garment unusable. Utility<br />
<strong>uniform</strong>s may be starched or sized at the option of the individual but<br />
starching/sizing will not be mandated by commanders. See paragraph 10103 for<br />
laundering instructions for camouflage utility <strong>uniform</strong>s.<br />
3. The emblem decal will be placed on the left breast pocket of the<br />
camouflage utility coat centered horizontally and vertically. To apply the<br />
decal, use a dry iron set at 300 degrees (synthetic). Press over the decal<br />
for 3 to 4 seconds. Do not use steam. Utility coats marked with the<br />
