MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />
CHAPTER 8<br />
UNIFORMS FOR NAVY PERSONNEL, RESERVE/<br />
RETIRED MARINES, MCJROTC, AND CIVILIANS<br />
1. Any individual wearing the Marine Corps <strong>uniform</strong> is expected to reflect<br />
the high personal appearance standards and esprit de <strong>corps</strong> that all Marines<br />
in <strong>uniform</strong> represent. To this end, particular attention will be paid not<br />
only to the correct and military wear of <strong>uniform</strong> components, but also to the<br />
individual's personal and physical appearance.<br />
2. All personnel exercising the privilege of wearing the Marine Corps<br />
service or dress <strong>uniform</strong> will comply fully with Marine Corps grooming and<br />
weight control standards.<br />
8001. NAVY PERSONNEL SERVING WITH MARINE CORPS UNITS. (See figs. 8-1 through<br />
8-3.)<br />
1. Service Uniforms. The wear of Navy or Marine Corps service <strong>uniform</strong>s by<br />
Navy personnel serving with Marine Corps units will be as follows:<br />
a. Officers. Navy officers may purchase and wear Marine Corps service<br />
<strong>uniform</strong>s at their option. When the Marine Corps service <strong>uniform</strong> is worn,<br />
Navy officers will abide by Marine Corps grooming and physical appearance<br />
standards and the <strong>uniform</strong> will be worn in the manner prescribed for Marine<br />
officers, except as otherwise specified in this chapter. Those officers who<br />
do not elect to wear Marine Corps service <strong>uniform</strong>s will wear the equivalent<br />
Navy service <strong>uniform</strong> and abide by Navy grooming and physical appearance<br />
standards.<br />
b. Enlisted<br />
(1) Marine Corps service <strong>uniform</strong>s are provided only to those Navy<br />
hospital <strong>corps</strong>men, dental technicians, or religious program specialists who<br />
elect to wear them. These Navy enlisted will wear Marine Corps service<br />
<strong>uniform</strong>s for the duration of their continuous service with Marine Corps units<br />
when directed by the commander. They will abide by Marine Corps grooming and<br />
physical appearance standards and, except as otherwise prescribed in this<br />
chapter, wear the service <strong>uniform</strong>s with the same required/optional components<br />
and in the same manner as prescribed for Marines.<br />
(2) Navy hospital <strong>corps</strong>men, dental technicians, or religious program<br />
specialists who do not elect to wear Marine Corps service <strong>uniform</strong>s, or those<br />
Navy enlisted personnel in other specialties not entitled to the service<br />
<strong>uniform</strong> option, will wear the equivalent Navy service <strong>uniform</strong> when required<br />
and abide by Navy grooming and physical appearance standards.<br />
(3) All Navy enlisted personnel serving with Marine Corps units and<br />
who wear Navy service <strong>uniform</strong>s will be issued sufficient quantities of unit<br />
identification marks (UIM's) for wear on their service <strong>uniform</strong>s. Unit supply
