MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />
System, is worn with all female evening dress <strong>uniform</strong>s, except that general<br />
officers will have a plain-front shirt.<br />
3. Male Dress Shirts<br />
a. The male white soft-bosom shirt is a plain, neckband-style shirt with<br />
French cuffs, five pearl buttons, and a collar stud for top buttonhole. It<br />
is worn with the officers' blue dress coat. The shirt cuffs should extend<br />
1/8 inch below the bottoms of the coat sleeves.<br />
b. The male white soft-bosom shirt with pique placket is a plain neckband<br />
style evening shirt. It has barrel-type cuffs fastened with cuff links and<br />
three buttonholes for studs on the front placket. It is worn with the<br />
officers' evening dress <strong>uniform</strong>. The white stiff-bosom shirt with one or two<br />
buttonholes may be worn until replacement is required.<br />
c. The male white pleated soft-bosom shirt is an evening style shirt with<br />
turned-down collar, pleated front, with two to three buttonholes for studs on<br />
the front shirt placket, and French cuffs. It is worn with the SNCOs evening<br />
dress <strong>uniform</strong>s.<br />
3027. SKIRTS<br />
1. Skirts will be of conventional length and sweep appropriate to the<br />
appearance of the <strong>uniform</strong> and the individual. Service and dress <strong>uniform</strong><br />
skirts, except the long skirt, will be from 1 inch above the kneecap to 1<br />
inch below the kneecap.<br />
2. Skirts will have a hem or facing from 2 inches to 3 inches wide and the<br />
seams will be pressed open and flat.<br />
3. The evening dress skirt will be black polyester-wool tropical material,<br />
floor length with center back pleat and fully lined with black rayon lining.<br />
The short evening dress skirt will be of the same material as the long skirt<br />
but will be knee length. The long black skirt will always be worn with the<br />
officers' evening dress "A" <strong>uniform</strong>. Either the long or short black skirt<br />
may be worn with all other officer and SNCO evening dress <strong>uniform</strong>s, depending<br />
on the degree of formality required. The old-style long skirt without center<br />
back pleat may continue to be worn until replacement is required. Officers<br />
and SNCOs will wear white skirts as part of the blue-white <strong>uniform</strong> during the<br />
summer <strong>uniform</strong> season, unless the commander prescribes blue-white slacks per<br />
guidance discussed in paragraph 3026.<br />
3028. SLACKS<br />

a. Slacks will be long enough to break slightly over the shoe in front<br />
and to reach the juncture of the welt of the shoe in the rear. A variation<br />
of 1/2 inch above the welt is acceptable. The hem on the slacks will be from<br />
2 to 3 inches wide.<br />
