MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />
l. Insignia of grade, standard gold on scarlet<br />
3023. PHYSICAL TRAINING CLOTHING.<br />
1. General Purpose Trunks. The standard issue general purpose trunks are<br />
fabricated from a polyester twill fabric, are olive green in color, are of<br />
thigh length, have an elastic waist with a draw cord, and have a bound Vnotch<br />
at the outer leg seams.<br />
a. When worn with the standard green undershirt, the trunks comprise the<br />
standard Marine Corps-wide physical training (PT) <strong>uniform</strong> and will be worn<br />
according to paragraph 2006.<br />
b. Olive green trunks of any material, similar in design to the standard<br />
issue trunks, may be worn at the option of the individual on all occasions<br />
for which the PT <strong>uniform</strong> is authorized/prescribed. Optional trunks may be<br />
purchased through Marine Corps Exchanges or commercial sources and are not<br />
required to contain Marine Corps approval identification.<br />
2. The required cold weather PT <strong>uniform</strong> is of olive green knit fabric and<br />
consists of a pull-over crew-neck sweatshirt and elastic waist sweatpants.<br />
The shirt and pants will have "<strong>US</strong>MC" in 3-inch block lettering and the Marine<br />
Corps emblem imprinted on the left breast of the shirt and upper left leg.<br />
The crew-neck sweatshirt may be worn under the utility <strong>uniform</strong> coat when<br />
sleeves are not rolled.<br />
3024. PROTECTIVE MOTORCYCLE CLOTHING<br />
1. An unornamented protective helmet which meets the standards of the Snell<br />
Memorial Foundation, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z90.1-<br />
1971, or the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218; eye<br />
protection consisting of impact-resistant goggles or full-face shield<br />
attached to the helmet; and a high-visibility reflective vest are authorized<br />
for wear by Marines in <strong>uniform</strong> while operating or riding as passengers on a<br />
motorcycle, MOPED, motorscooter, or similar two- or three-wheeled vehicle.<br />
The vest must have two vertical or horizontal retro reflective stripes at<br />
least 1 1/2 inches wide front and back such as the Motorcycle Safety<br />
Foundation black vest or vests of international orange, lime green, or bright<br />
yellow with retro reflective stripes."<br />
2. The safety equipment described will be worn whenever directed by Marine<br />
Corps safety <strong>regulations</strong>. When helmets are worn, chin-straps/eye protection<br />
will be properly fastened and in place. Reflective vests must not be covered<br />
or concealed.<br />
3025. SCARF<br />
3025<br />
1. During the winter <strong>uniform</strong> period, Marines may wear the green wool scarf<br />
when the AWC/tanker/ECWCS parka/field coat is worn with the service or<br />
utility <strong>uniform</strong>, at the individual's option. The scarf will not be<br />
prescribed for wear.<br />
