7000. DEFINITION AND AUTHORIZATION<br />
MARINE CORPS UNIFORM REGULATIONS<br />
CHAPTER 7<br />
ORGANIZATIONAL CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT<br />
1. Organizational clothing and equipment are those individual clothing items<br />
on the unit's allowance list that are purchased using local Operations and<br />
Maintenance, Marine Corps (O&MMC) funds and issued to Marines on a temporary<br />
basis to accomplish assigned duties. The Marine is accountable for<br />
organizational clothing and equipment issued, and will return it upon<br />
reassignment. Organizational clothing will be issued only at the discretion<br />
of the commander, according to guidelines and directives published by HQMC.<br />
2. Special organizational clothing such as coveralls, cold weather clothing,<br />
desert clothing (with exception of desert combat utility <strong>uniform</strong>s), aviation<br />
clothing and equipment, NBC defense protective clothing and physical training<br />
clothing will be worn when and as prescribed by the commander.<br />
3. Separate items of organizational clothing or equipment listed in this<br />
chapter may be prescribed with the <strong>uniform</strong> of the day at the commander's<br />
discretion.<br />
4. Organizational clothing and equipment other than listed in this chapter,<br />
such as cartridge belts, pistol belts, lanyards, helmets, cellular phones,<br />
pagers, etc., may be worn with the <strong>uniform</strong> when and as prescribed by the<br />
commander.<br />
7001. BRASSARDS<br />
1. Brassards are cloth bands suitably marked with symbols, letters, or words<br />
indicating a type of temporary duty to which the wearer is assigned.<br />
2. Brassards will be worn with the lettering, if any, on the outer half of<br />
the left sleeve, midway between the armhole seam and the elbow, or directly<br />
below the insignia of grade.<br />
3. Military police brassards are authorized for wear by personnel assigned<br />
to military police units only. The standard gold on scarlet brassard will be<br />
worn with the service and dress <strong>uniform</strong>s. The black on olive green brassard<br />
will be worn only with the utility <strong>uniform</strong>.<br />
7002. BREASTCORDS. Scarlet and gold breastcords will be worn by enlisted<br />
Marines on duty at State functions at the White House.<br />
7003. CAMPAIGN (SERVICE) HAT<br />
1. The campaign hat may be worn with the duty <strong>uniform</strong> by Marines listed<br />
below, and is not authorized for leave, liberty, or in formation with troops,<br />
except as required for drill instructors. It will not be worn with the blue<br />
dress or blue-white "A"/"B" <strong>uniform</strong>s. Service cap branch of service insignia<br />
will be worn in the center front ventilation eyelet. Hats, brims,<br />
