CHAPTER 9 RECOVERING EXADATARX bytes:5803074 (5.5 MiB) TX bytes:4380419 (4.1 MiB)Memory:f8c60000-f8c8000010. Using the MAC addresses from step 9, edit the /etc/sysconfig/networkscripts/ifcfg-eth{0-3}files and replace the old MAC addresses with the newones. Here is an example using the ifcfg-eth0 file:[enkcel03:root] /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts> cat ifcfg-eth0#### DO NOT REMOVE THESE LINES ######## %GENERATED BY CELL% ####DEVICE=eth0BOOTPROTO=staticONBOOT=yesIPADDR=192.168.8.205NETMASK=255.255.252.0NETWORK=192.168.8.0BROADCAST=192.168.11.255GATEWAY=192.168.10.1HOTPLUG=noIPV6INIT=noHWADDR=00:21:28:8e:ab:d8 Replace this MAC address with the new address11. Reboot the new storage cell to pick up the new MAC addresses.12. After rebooting the cell, you should be able to log in to it using ssh, just as younormally would. Log in and reactivate the grid disks using the CellCLIcommand ’ALTER GRIDDISK command as follows:CellCLI> alter griddisk all active13. Once the grid disks are activated, ASM will set them to a state of online andbegin using them once again. This is only true if the disk repair timer has notexpired.14. The last thing you will need to do is configure the ILOM for ASR. Configuringthe ILOM is a little off topic and is covered very well in the Oracledocumentation, so we won’t be discussing it here.SummaryExadata is a highly redundant platform with a lot of moving parts. Businesses don’t typically invest insuch a platform without expectations of minimal downtime. As such, Exadata is commonly used forhosting mission-critical business applications with very stringent uptime requirements. Knowing whatto do when things go wrong is critical to meeting these uptime requirements. In this chapter we’vediscussed the proper procedures for protecting your applications and customers from component andsystem failures. Before your system is rolled into production, make it a priority to practice backing upand restoring system volumes, removing and replacing disk drives, and rebooting storage cells, andbecome familiar with what happens to your databases. Run the diagnostic tools we’ve discussed in thischapter and make sure you understand how to interpret the output. If you are going to be responsiblefor maintaining Exadata for your company, now is the time to get comfortable with the topics discussedin this chapter.318
