CHAPTER 12 MONITORING EXADATA PERFORMANCEview, named V$SQLSTATS_PLAN_HASH, which you should query instead. It organizes and reports the statsbroken down by SQL ID and plan hash value instead of just SQL ID as V$SQLSTATS does.Monitoring the Storage Cell LayerLet’s look at how to monitor the storage cell layer for utilization and efficiency. As you already know, thestorage cells are regular commodity servers with some disks attached to them and running Linux. Youcan use regular Linux OS monitoring commands and tools to keep an eye on OS metrics like CPU usageor disk I/O activity. The only catch is that Oracle does not allow you to install any additional(monitoring) daemons and software on the cells— if you still want to have a supported configuration. The good news is that Oracle cell server software and additional OS Watcher scripts do a good job ofcollecting detailed performance metrics in each cell. The following sections show how to extract, display, and use some of these metrics.Accessing Cell Metrics in the Cell Layer Using CellCLIThe cell-collected metrics can be accessed using the CellCLI utility. That’s in fact how the Exadatastorage cell plug-in for Grid Control retrieves its data. You have seen CellCLI used in earlier chapters.Following are a few examples of using CellCLI for retrieving performance metrics. The command namesshould be fairly self-explanatory - we will cover the CellCLI commands in more detail in Appendix A.$ cellcliCellCLI: Release 11.2.2.3.1 - Production on Mon May 16 09:22:19 CDT 2011Copyright (c) 2007, 2009, Oracle.
