output optionsincluding square, sine and trianglewaves. It’s alsopossible to createstimulus waveformsof any polarity andshape. The outputoptions are adjustedeither graphicallyor numerically foreasy control ofamplitude, durationand start time.Users can also output a previously recorded waveformor create customized stimuli using the waveformmath tools.Auditory Evoked Response (AER)& Jewett Sequence Q05To perform on-line AER studies, combine the auditoryoutput options of the STM100C Stimulator with thesignal averaging functions of the MP System. Use theOUT101 Tubephone to efficiently direct acousticalstimuli. The software will display the results and allowusers to measure the amplitude and time of Fast (2-12msec), Middle (12-50 msec), Slow (50-300 msec), andLate responses (250-600 msec).Visual Evoked Response Q06Perform VER studies with the TSD122 Stroboscope andthe averaging features of the MP System. Trigger theaveraging cycle with the stroboscope, or vice-versa.Users can substitute different visual stimulators (e.g.checkerboard generators) for the stroboscope.Somatosensory EvokedResponse Q07Perform somatosensory tests by using the MP Systemwith a STM100C stimulator and either the STMISOseries or a solenoid.1) The STMISO series, used with the STM100C, willprovide either voltage or current stimulation.2) A solenoid will provide a mechanical stimulationto provoke a touch sensation in the subjectsynchronously with neuronal recording. Drive asolenoid directly from the STM100C stimulatorand use the ERS100C amplifier to record theevoked potentials.Average the potentials to obtain a clear picture of theresponse amplitude and latency.Event-related Potentials(STP100W) Q03The STP100W package will present a variety of visualand auditory stimuli on one computer while theAcqKnowledge software records the responses on anothercomputer. As the stimuli are presented, the STP100Wsimultaneously (with 1ms resolution) sends trigger signalsto the MP System for data synchronization and collection. The STP100W software (SuperLab) can be used tochange the placement of visual stimuli on the screen, change the screen’s background color, choose froma variety of input and timing options, and providefeedback based on either response or reaction time.Different trigger channels can be paired to differentvisual or auditory stimuli to perform sophisticatedevoked response averaging tests (e.g., P300). Theoff-line averaging function in AcqKnowledge displays theaveraged response to each different stimulus triggeredfrom the STP100W system.Extra-cellular Spike Recording Q09Record and analyze extra-cellular spikes using a glass orwire micro-electrode and the MCE100C microelectrodeamplifier. Use the averaging function inAcqKnowledge to determine the average response, orcount the number of spikes with the peak detectionfunction. To identify trends within the firings, use theHistogram and FFT analysis functions. Measure theamplitude, duration, and frequency of each spike.Automatically Control ExternalEquipmentUse the digital I/O lines on the MP System to drive multiplestimulating devices—control lights, buzzers, relaysand solenoids. Drivesolid state relays directlyfrom the I/O lines tocontrol high-poweredexternal devices. Usethe on-line Calculationchannels to createsynchronization andcontrol channel outputs.HardwareOptions:13EEG100C 56ElectroencephalogramAmplifierEMG100C 57ElectromyogramAmplifierERS100C 57Evoked ResponseAmplifierSTM100C 64Stimulator ModuleSTMISOSeries 64Electrical StimulusIsolation AccessoriesOUT100 65HeadphonesOUT101 65Tubephone SetSTP100W 63Stimulus PresentationSystem (SuperLab)HLT100C 53High Level TransducerModuleINISO 53Input Signal IsolatedAdapterOUTISO 53Output Signal IsolatedAdapterDA100C 54General-purposeTransducer AmplifierTSD122 74StroboscopeCAP100C 85EEG Electrode CapMCE100C 61Micro-electrodeAmplifierEL Series 83ElectrodesLEAD Series 83Electrode LeadsMEC Series 87Module ExtensionCables
